UB 101 – Our Management Style

UB 101 – Our Management Style

When you start the process of planning a renovation or a new build, it’s easy to get caught up in all the fun stuff! Fabulous slabs of marble with dramatic veining, elegant herringbone flooring, swoon-worthy fixtures and hardware etc. etc. – we get it, it’s our love language! That said, none of this is possible without the right people in place. So prior to getting jazzed about finishes, it’s important to do research on the people and businesses that are going to get the job done. More specifically, it’s worth considering their management style and whether it aligns with your personal needs.

So what is our management style? In nutshell, it boils down to one word- transparency. We make it a priority to take a transparent approach to design + build and keep our clients informed every step of the way. When working with us, clients can expect clear communication and deadlines, as well as guidance.

While many design + build companies are focused on building a great end result, they may not care about the process it takes to get there. In addition to caring about the finished product, we are also focused on making the process as enjoyable and painless as possible for our clients. Taking on a construction project is exciting but not necessarily every client’s area of expertise and therefore can come with a lot of uncertainty. Our management style strives to avoid uncertainty and provide clear direction and guidance.

Although every project is unique and has different requirements, what they all have in common is a collaboration of the efforts of four key team members.

Luca Penzo is one of the Urban Blueprint co-founders but he is also our director of construction. Luca spearheads all architectural, structural and mechanical design as well as managing construction.

Natasha Penzo is our other co-founder and the director of design. She manages the interior design and client relations.

Pradnya Gade is our interior design coordinator and manages the coordination of all finish selections and design documentation such as; millwork drawings, electrical drawings, reflected ceiling plans, renderings and much more.

Last, but certainly not least, is Ariel Songco, our site supervisor. Ariel manages all of our on-site reporting and facilitates job-site coordination.

When you choose to work with UB these are all faces you will see and hear from regularly to maintain clarity and organization and also to provide guidance and peace of mind.

In addition to our team members, we also work to stay up-to-date on building software and organizational tools. One of these tools is Builder Trend, which is a construction management platform and one that our clients quickly become familiar with. Builder Trend keeps all documentation consolidated in one place and allows clients to check in on their project at any time with their unique login portal. The image above is an example of a schedule that would appear on Builder Trend.

Regardless of whether your project is a small-scale reno or an extensive new-build project, our approach is unwavering and remains the same. Every project is a reflection of the people who live or work there and for that reason, UB approaches every project by starting with the client. Our goal is to create beautiful spaces that capture the essence of our clients and their needs. We focus on every aspect of the project to make the process as enjoyable as possible for our clients by delivering both service and results that exceed expectations.
